Alexander (knee) is expected to be cleared to begin jogging next week, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Analysis: This is another positive signpost in Alexander's recovery from the torn ACL that ended his season in November. Continued progress will only help Alexander's market value as he approaches free agency in March.

Armbrister was released by the Cardinals on Wednesday, per the league's official transaction log.

Analysis: Armbrister joined the Cardinals last November but he only appeared in one regular-season game with the team before landing on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. He'll now get a head start to find a new team ahead of the 2019 campaign.

Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert mentioned Samuels as one of the reasons the team is comfortable letting Le'Veon Bell leave, Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Analysis: James Conner is also a big part of the equation, not to mention the financial aspect and Bell's fractured relationship with the team. There was never a realistic scenario for Bell to rejoin the Steelers after sitting out an entire season, especially after the team saw what Conner and Samuels are capable of doing. The former should enter training camp unchallenged as a starter, while the latter made a strong case to replace Conner in passing situations, hauling in 26 of 29 targets for 199 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie. Conner was also productive in the passing game, but he doesn't have comparable receiving upside to Samuels, who often lined up as a tight end and H-back at NC State.

Mayo is recovering from sports hernia surgery and is expected to make a full recovery, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.

Analysis: Mayo never missed a game in 2018, but he did pop up on the injury report prior to Week 10 with a groin issue. Regardless, sports hernia surgeries are rarely worth getting too concerned over at this stage in the offseason, as there's a strong possibility Mayo could be good to go again well before the start of team training camps -- which is great news for the linebacker, since Mayo is set to become an unrestricted free agent in March.

Garland will not return to the Falcons in 2019, D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Analysis: Garland has played in 30 games for Atlanta over the past two seasons, starting seven of them. However, it seems he wasn't deemed to be a fit in new offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter's offensive system. Garland will thus become an unrestricted free agent March 13.
